Motorola Moto G3 gets Android Marshmallow (6.0)

After the Google Nexus devices, it was Motorola’s turn to provide Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS updates.
The recent rollout of the latest Google operating system on Motorola handsets like the Moto X Style, the Moto X Pure Edition (2015), and the Moto X Pure Edition (2014), the Lenovo-owned American company has also begun pushing the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update on its Moto G3.

Condition on Android 6.0 Marshmallow update on the Moto G (2015) in the US, the smartphone has to be unlocked, which means that it should not be locked to any American telecom carrier.

According to Android Authority, owners of the unlocked Moto G3 in the US should be expecting the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to have already come to their devices since a few days ago and they can just opt to install it manually, assuming that it did not update automatically.
Motorola has given a New Year’s treat to its Moto G3 users in India also as the phone will now be getting an Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.

“Here is something new and amazing for your Moto G (3rd Gen.), the Android 6.0 Marshmallow!” Motorola India announced on its Twitter account.

The third-generation phone of the Moto G series will now be upgraded from Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) to Android 6.0
The update is of 2GB and will remove apps like “Migrate” and “Assist”.
New features with update will be:
  • The version 6.0 comes with a new Doze mode that is intended to save the battery life, and has improved Google Now and volume control functions among others.
  • the more granular app permission controls, Google Now on Tap, Android Pay, and much simpler volume controls.
  • a new app menu drawer
  • new app search bar and favorites section that will help you navigate your device much faster
  • the clock on Marshmallow has been improved, Google has written the date text in all-caps, making it a lot easier to read. In addition to this, the font of the time characters have been thickened. 
  • a new memory manager, which you can use to check the memory usage of your installed apps.

The phone would notify you about the update. If, however, one does not receive the notification, one can manually check for the update by going to Settings > About Phone > System Update.
